Working alongside the CEO, the candidate will be expected to be an exceptional accountant and be hands-on with the company finances, while remaining commercially aware and advising on the best path of growth for the business. The position has overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of the group’s strategies and is expected to analyze figures and implement recommendations based on these findings, with the most profitable outcomes.Critical aspects of the role are the reviewing & implementing of sound financial processes, coordinating of corporate finance and managing company policies regarding capital & treasury requirements, debt, taxation, equity and acquisitions as appropriate.The goal is to protect the company’s revenues and profits to achieve full financial control and sustainable growth.
Responsible for the groups accounting function.
Form a close working relationship with the CEO and other Senior Executives and Non- Executives and Stakeholders.
Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers.
Lead and develop the finance teams.
Work with the teams to grow the business, formulating strategies and plans.
Corporate finance: manage the company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity, disposals and acquisitions, as appropriate.
Take ultimate responsibility for the company cash management policies.
Oversee & review the company’s Finance IT system.
Ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth.
Provide leadership in the Board's Finance and Accounting strategy, to optimise the Group’s financial performance and strategic position.
Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
Oversee General Ledger Functions, assure accuracy, timeliness and conformity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Report risk issues to the audit committee of the Board of Directors.
Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties including customers, advisors, financiers and stakeholders.
Ensure budgeting processes are carried out and reviewed, consistency & timeously.
Present results to regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
what you need to know
Qualified member of an accountancy body like ACCA or holder of an equivalent qualification preferably a Chartered Accountant or equivalent qualification.
Proven experience as CFO or relevant role, preferably in the distribution sector.
