Our client is a Mauritius based holding company for the Group which has banking and finance operations in Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The company is seeking to recruit a high candidate for the post of Head of Finance in Mauritius and will report to the Group CFO and locally to the Group COO.


. Act as CFO for our Holdings and Shared Services entities, liaising with the Group CFO on all Group matters.
. Experience of Transfer Pricing arrangements, including implementation and management of the calculation, invoicing, billing and collection process.
. Cash flow / liquidity management for the local entities, ensuring adequate funds to meet liabilities at all times, and early warning of any potential issues.
. Production and delivery of end to end reporting process, covering management accounts and financial accounts to IFRS / IAS standards.
. Ensure compliance with all tax matters, including returns and payments.
. Dealing with and managing the half year and full year audit process, including being the main point of contact for the Auditors.
. Ensure full knowledge of and compliance with all local regulatory and legal requirements.

In addition to the high level requirements outlined above, specific details of the role requirements can be described, but not limited as follows: -

. Closure of monthly accounts and production of monthly management accounts and half yearly / annual accounts.
. Computation of taxation for the company including accounting entries and estimates, payments and dealing with the local Tax authorities.
. For Transfer Pricing and other matters, build solid relationships with Country CFO functions, to facilitate liaison with Finance Departments across Group.
. Oversight and management of all processes involving Finance team output.
. Working with Internal and External Audit, being responsible for executing any recommendations arising from their reviews on a timely basis.
. Control and management of the company payments and admin procedures (including payroll), liquidity and cash flow management.
. Support CFOs activities on:

Impact and review of accounting standards and policies.
Manage the forecast, budget and strategy process.
Control and management of all costs & investment)
Any other cognate duties as and when required

Additionally, there is scope in the future, for the role to expand to cover additional responsibilities, including:

Work with the Group CFO on Consolidated of the Financial Statements.
Work with the Group CFO to ensure oversight on Group reporting process.
Other ah-hoc tasks including Finance and accounting procedures/controls for the Group.

what you need to know

. Professional Accounting qualification as a minimum.
. Business Degree or equivalent.
. Self-starter and able to work independently.
. Proven track record of delivering to tight timelines, accurate and insightful reporting.
. Experience of working as part of a remote team would be ideal.
. Experience of interacting and dealing with Senior Management
. Previous experience of working in a banking background.
. Head of Function / management experience
. Technically excellent with knowledge of IFRS / IAS
