Our client, a significant player in the FMCG Distribution in Mauritius, is seeking to recruit a dynamic professional to fill the role of Senior Sales and Commercial Operations Manager. The incumbent will report to the General Manager and his/her role will involve developing and executing sales strategies in alignment with company objectives while mitigating risks.


Strategic Planning:
Oversee the formulation and implementation of sustainable strategies aligned with the company's long-term business objectives that promote brand loyalty.
Monitor and analyze sales data regularly to track performance, identify areas for improvement, and adjust strategies accordingly.
Identify potential risks in sourcing and freight processes, assess geopolitical and economic factors that may impact import/export and develop corresponding mitigation strategies to ensure supply chain continuity in the face of potential disruptions.
Develop and implement a business plan to contribute to the long-term sustainability and growth of the company.

Business Development and Innovation:
Establish and enforce operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
Oversee the negotiation and closing of commercial agreements with distributors, retailers, and partners.
Analyze financial reports and performance metrics to manage budgets, forecast financial performance, and allocate resources effectively to support operational needs.

Business Development
Explore business development opportunities both locally and internationally, based on market analysis, industry trends and sales targets.
Formulate and refine the business transformation concepts, considering all relevant factors including feasibility, strategic alignment, and financial viability.
Pursue new partnerships in different countries, including distributors, retailers, and service providers.

Client Relations and Partnership Management:
Develop and nurture relationships with existing distributors, and retail partners by understanding their needs, and organizing client visits, especially for high-profile clients.
Coordinate with all relevant local and international authorities, including the British American Tobacco, the Mauritius Police Force, the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life, and the Ministry of Commerce and Consumer Protection.

Leadership & People Management:
Lead and manage a high-performing Sales and Commercial team, providing guidance, support, and regular performance evaluations.
Design and implement relevant people strategies to promote a positive and supportive work environment.
Promote synergy among the sales team, procurement team, marketing and business development team, and the warehouse, logistics and distribution team to ensure smooth operations and efficient communication.
Act as a trusted advisor to the General Manager/ Top Management, providing strategic insights and recommendations to support key decision-making processes.

what you need to know


Minimum of a Master's degree in business, or related field.
Proven experience of at least 10 years in sales and business.
Experience within the FMCG or in the distribution industry would be a key advantage.
Strong leadership and team/people management skills.
Strategic thinking with a results-oriented mindset.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Analytical ability to interpret market data and trends.
Innovative and creative thinking.
Familiarity with digital marketing strategies and tools.
Ability to work under pressure.
