Our client, a leading organisation, is seeking an accomplished and visionary Chief Executive to provide decisive leadership at Board and enterprise level. Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Chairman of the Board and under the general direction of the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive (CE) is responsible for providing overall strategic leadership and executive direction to the Bank, ensuring sustainable growth, profitability, and long-term shareholder value. The role encompasses defining and executing the Bank's strategy, overseeing all operations and financial performance, and maintaining strong governance, robust risk management, and regulatory compliance in line with Bank of Mauritius requirements. The CE will lead transformation initiatives, develop a high-performing executive team, and will build a strong performance and governance culture within the Bank. He/she will be the primary interface with the Board, regulators, and key stakeholders, while building and safeguarding the Bank's reputation and ensuring alignment with its vision and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Define and drive the execution of the Bank's approved strategy to achieve Balanced Scorecard objectives, delivering sustainable profitability, productivity and efficiency through disciplined balance sheet management-encompassing capital planning, liquidity and funding optimisation, and effective management of risk-weighted assets-while maintaining strong capital adequacy, liquidity buffers, and asset quality in full compliance with prudential requirements.
Drive the Bank's growth and expansion in all segments with focus on Segment B, in alignment with Board expectations, Group strategy, approved Risk Appetite Statement, and sustainable finance principles.
Achieve and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction consistent with the Bank's positioning, ensuring fair treatment of customers and strong conduct standards.
Lead cultural transformation to position the Bank as an employer of choice, embedding accountability, performance discipline, ethical standards, and succession planning.
Lead modernisation and channel optimization initiatives, including digital banking transformation, fintech partnerships, data governance, and cybersecurity resilience.
Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including prudential guidelines, AML/CFT obligations, sanctions compliance, data protection requirements, and corporate governance codes.
Ensure robust enterprise-wide risk management covering credit, market, operational, liquidity, cyber, climate-related, and emerging risks.
Maintain strong internal control systems and effective independent assurance functions (Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit).
Promote environmental, social, and governance (ESG) integration within strategy, risk management, and lending practices.
Ensure business continuity planning and operational resilience frameworks are regularly reviewed and tested.

what you need to know

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

A degree from a University or Institution recognized by the Higher Education Commission or professional bodies in the field of banking, economics, finance, business management, accounting, governance, or law or any such other relevant fields.
At least ten (10) years of senior executive experience in the banking sector and/or regulated financial services industry, including substantive and demonstrable responsibility for one or more of the following areas: banking operations, financial intermediations, balance sheet liquidity management, risk management, governance or other regulated financial activities within duly licensed or regulated financial institutions in Mauritius or any jurisdictions of recognize substance. International experience would be an advantage.
In-depth knowledge of banking practices, regulations, financial markets, and the Basel III prudential framework.
Experience in handling Board affairs, regulatory interface, and in establishing networks with high-end corporate and institutional clients and high-net-worth individuals.
Demonstrated experience in regulatory engagement.
Strong understanding of risk, governance, internal controls, and compliance within a regulated financial institution.
Exceptional Strategic and People Leadership ability
Strong stakeholder management skills.
High level of integrity, sound judgement, resilience, and strategic foresight.
