Our client is seeking to recruit a Financial Control Officer who will be responsible for supporting the Finance Department in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and post accounting journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, provisions, and other month-end adjustments.
Compute and record monthly depreciation and amortisation and maintain the fixed asset register.
Perform reconciliations of accounts payable, supplier statements, bank accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during reconciliations.
Prepare and compute VAT returns and ensure timely submission in compliance with statutory requirements.
Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely financial reporting.
Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure proper filing of supporting documentation.
Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and provide information required for internal and external audits.
Monitor financial transactions to ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
Contribute to the improvement of accounting processes and reporting efficiency.
Perform any other finance and accounting duties assigned by Management.
what you need to know
Profile:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience gained within an accounting or audit firm.
Good knowledge of financial reporting, VAT, reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
