Our client in the import and export sector is seeking to recruit a Finance Manager who will be responsible for leading the finance team and providing professional management of the Accounts Department while ensuring that the accounting procedures, polices, standards & SOPs are strictly followed. The ideal candidate will report directly to the Regional Finance Head and to the General Manager of the operating entity.
Responsibilities:
Ensure that the books of accounts are maintained accurately and in line with applicable statutory and accounting guidelines.
Ensure timely coordination and completion of the statutory audit of the books of accounts without any qualifications.
Ensure adequate control over Revenues including timely billing to Principals and Customers with sharp focus on maintaining timely collections within agreed credit period. Escalate where credit periods are breached.
Ensure compliance with applicable agency agreements and deliver timely and accurate reports to the respective principals.
Ensure timely payments to vendors including port authorities within the agreed credit period.
Ensure compliance with applicable SOPs within the finance team, review and revise SOPs where required and develop new SOPs, as may be applicable.
Ensure maintenance of HR records for local employees and execute timely process of payroll in coordination with central HR.
Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws of the country – Direct and Indirect Taxes.
Understanding of local Transfer Pricing regulations applicable within the country as well appreciation of global TP practices. Work with HO to ensure compliance to international TP regulations for local and HO country tax laws.
Ensure effective management of cash flows to ensure adequate availability of funds as well as ensuring that idle funds are suitably deployed.
Ensure effective management of relationships with the banks and comply with required regulations including meeting KYC norms.
Work with the business GM and lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting exercise.
Lead for providing regular management reports including board presentations as per required periodicity.
Work with a hybrid finance team structure – onsite and offsite.
what you need to know
Profile:
Experience as a Finance / Accounts Manager for a minimum period of 5 years.
Experience in the Shipping industry (line or agency) will be an added advantage.
Qualified CPA (Certified Public Accountant) / CA (Chartered Accountant) / ACCA degree / MBA - Finance.
Good command of IFRS accounting principles.
Understanding of tax laws – Direct and Indirect taxes. An understanding of international taxation principles will be an added advantage.
Liaising with the Statutory Audit firm for review and signing of the annual Financial Statements.
Exposure to global Big 5 accounting firms will be an added advantage.
Excellent knowledge of MS Office and office management software (ERP etc.).
Excellent communication skills in English – Read, Write, Speak.
Ability to work with and lead a multi-cultural team with a hands-on approach.
Excellent organization and detail-oriented skills.
Ability to work under pressure and at flexible hours.
Demonstrate conflict management and cross-functional skills.
Ability to work towards and deliver on strict timelines.
Ability to work with cross functional teams and support the GM in achieving business objectives.
Flexible to relocate and work in different locations across the Middle East and Africa.
