Our client in the financial sector is seeking to recruit a skilled and analytical Manager Credit Risk to oversee the effective management of the credit underwriting, approval and monitoring functions of the Loan function. The ideal candidate will manage the credit assessment process, manage credit risk, monitor portfolio performance, and provide recommendations to management and relevant committees regarding loan approvals and portfolio management.
Responsibilities:
Assess and evaluate loan applications from individuals, corporates, SMEs, and policyholders, including review of financial statements, bank statements, credit bureau reports, and supporting documentation.
Conduct affordability, repayment capacity, risk grading, and overall credit assessments, and prepare comprehensive credit assessment reports and recommendations.
Approve credit facilities within delegated authority limits and recommend larger facilities to the appropriate approval committees.
Develop and maintain robust credit risk assessment methodologies while monitoring credit exposure, concentration risks, lending limits, and the Group's risk appetite.
Monitor the quality and performance of the loan portfolio, including delinquency, arrears, non-performing loans, and default trends, and recommend appropriate corrective and risk mitigation measures.
Prepare regular portfolio quality and credit risk reports for Senior Management, the Board, and relevant committees.
Develop, review, and update credit policies, procedures, underwriting standards, and lending guidelines in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Ensure efficient and effective credit processes and contribute to the development and implementation of new lending products.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, AML and KYC requirements, and support internal and external audits relating to credit operations.
Prepare and submit reports and information required by Management, auditors, regulators, and Board Committees.
Foster a strong culture of accountability, prudent risk management, compliance, and customer service excellence.
what you need to know
Profile:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or any other related field.
Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CFA, MBA would be an advantage.
Minimum 8-10 years' experience in credit risk management, lending, or banking operations, including 3-5 years in a managerial/supervisory role.
Strong knowledge in consumer lending, mortgage lending, vehicle financing, SME lending, or policy loans will be an advantage.
Strong understanding of risk management principles and credit portfolio management.
Strong knowledge of credit analysis and financial statement interpretation.
Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship building skills and
Ability to work in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
