Our client The Cargo Handling Corporation Limited (CHCL) is the sole operator for container handling activities at Port Louis. It also handles general and bulk cargoes excluding products through pipelines. CHCL is seeking to recruit for the post of Administrative Manager.
The Role
The Administrative Manager provides Management with administrative support and back-up services in the formulation, planning and execution of all corporate decisions and implementation of internal communication of the Corporation's activities. He/ She ensures that the Board operates in compliance with corporate laws /regulations and good governance.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organise and supervise the Administration Department of the Corporation.
Provide services as Secretary to the Board and any sub-committee of the Corporation, ensure that notes of meetings are circulated on time and assist Management in the implementation of Board decisions.
Maintain the Share Register of the Corporation.
Responsible for recording of Minutes of Proceedings of Committees / Meetings.
Ensure the Corporation's membership to appropriate organizations. and compliance with:
a. the provisions of the Memorandum and Articles of Association, and those of the Companies Act and other legislation.
b. standards of business ethics and Corporate Governance; and
c. Public Procurement Act.
Attend to formal correspondence on matters related to the business of the Corporation.
Prepare and advise on commercial contracts, agreements, conveyance and other legal documents as required.
Advise Management on legal issues, coordinate the legal work of the Corporation, assist in all legal matters and represent the Corporation in court cases.
Prepare and implement the budget relating to the department.
Monitor the upkeep and maintenance of the CHCL building and infrastructure, the proper schedule of drivers, messengers and security personnel and all mattes pertaining to insurance, i.e. policies, claims and liaison with insurance companies.
Manage and act as coordinator on specific projects.
Ensure the implementation of external/internal communications.
Responsible for archives of the Corporation.
Perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from incumbents in the roles ascribed to them.
what you need to know
Qualifications & Experience:
Associates of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators / Chartered Governance Institute;
OR
Candidates who meet the requirements to act as Company Secretary in accordance with Section 165 of the Companies Act 2001.
At least 5 years of experience in Corporate Governance and Administration.
Experience in Legal / Compliance role would be an advantage.
A relevant post graduate qualification would be an advantage.

Strong organisational and time management skills.
Proven leadership qualities with the ability to coordinate teams and activities effectively.
Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a structured manner.
Sound communication and interpersonal skills.
