The Mauritius Bankers Association (MBA), founded in 1967, represents all licensed banks in Mauritius. As a non-profit entity under the Mauritius Companies Act, it serves as the industry's voice and liaison with regulators, policymakers, and the public. Based in Port Louis, the MBA promotes a stable, competitive, and resilient banking sector. To support this mission, the MBA is hiring Analysts and Senior Analysts.
Main Responsibilities:
Coordinate the activities of the MBA Sub-Committees and/or Working Groups.
Conduct research on various topics and prepare papers for internal and/or external use.
Work with the chairperson of each sub-committee & working group to define agenda & project timelines and execute all related tasks.
Work with stakeholders (e.g. banks, BOM, MRA) and colleagues to drive projects to completion.
Assist with ad hoc tasks and new committees; occasionally support other projects and colleagues.
Monitor industry trends and regulatory developments, providing timely updates and recommendations to management and member banks.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, government agencies, industry partners, and international banking associations.
Support the planning and execution of events, workshops, and training sessions organized by the MBA.
Contribute to the drafting and review of policy statements, consultation papers, and communications issued by the Association.
Maintain accurate records of committee meetings, project progress, and stakeholder communications.
what you need to know
Profile:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Law, Sustainability, or any related field.
Minimum of 5 years' working experience in banking operations/payments systems, economic research and strategy, with a good knowledge of Financial Services sector.
Knowledge of AI tools shall be an advantage.
Key Competencies:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to build consensus and work across multiple project teams in a collegiate manner.
Curious and able to work on a broad range of topics.
Good understanding of the relevant subject matters.
A practical understanding of issues which can arise in the daily course of business.
Any experience in project management will be an advantage.
