Our client in the manufacturing sector is seeking to recruit a Commercial & Business Development Manager. The Commercial & Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving the company's commercial growth agenda by identifying and converting new business opportunities, strengthening client relationships, developing strategic partnerships, and supporting sustainable revenue and profitability. The role combines commercial strategy, sales performance management, market intelligence, contract negotiation, pricing, stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration to support the company's long-term objectives.

Responsibilities:

Commercial Strategy, Business Growth & Market Development:
Develop and implement commercial and business development strategies aligned with the company's objectives.
Identify, assess and pursue new business opportunities, target markets and revenue streams.
Conduct market research and monitor industry trends, competitor activities, customer needs and consumer behaviour to identify opportunities, risks and key market issues.
Explore competitive products and services by evaluating product characteristics, market share, pricing and positioning, and maintain relevant market intelligence databases.
Prepare marketing proposals, business cases and programme evaluation reports to support commercial decision-making.
Contribute to the expansion of the company's customer base and market presence.

Sales, Revenue Generation & Pipeline Management:
Generate leads, convert prospects into long-term clients and identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
Meet or exceed agreed sales targets, revenue goals and business growth objectives.
Oversee sales forecasting, pipeline management, performance tracking and reporting.
Prepare and deliver compelling commercial proposals, presentations and business cases.

Client Relationship, Stakeholder & Partnership Management:
Build, develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, key accounts, partners and stakeholders.
Understand client needs and work with internal teams to propose tailored and value-adding solutions.
Represent the company in client meetings, commercial discussions, networking events and partnership negotiations.
Establish strategic partnerships and alliances that support sustainable business growth.

Contract Negotiation, Pricing & Commercial Governance:
Lead or support negotiations with clients, suppliers and partners, ensuring commercially sound outcomes.
Develop and recommend pricing strategies that balance competitiveness, profitability and market positioning.
Ensure commercial agreements are aligned with company policies, approval processes and applicable legal requirements.
Identify and manage commercial risks related to contracts, pricing, margins and client commitments.

Financial Performance, Reporting & Continuous Improvement:
Monitor revenue performance, budgets, margins, cost structures and profitability indicators.
Develop short- and long-term plans and budgets for marketing, communication, public relations and commercial development activities.
Plan, execute and monitor budgets in an optimal manner by comparing actual results against plans, forecasts and agreed performance indicators.
Provide regular reports, insights and recommendations to management on sales performance, pipeline status, budget utilisation and market opportunities.
Identify opportunities to optimise costs, improve commercial performance and enhance customer satisfaction.
Recommend improvements to products, services and commercial processes based on market feedback and business analysis.

Collaboration, Leadership & Team Development:
Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations and other internal departments to ensure coordinated execution of commercial initiatives.
Support marketing campaigns, promotional activities, advertising initiatives and client engagement programmes in collaboration with relevant internal teams, including the Brand Manager where applicable.
Oversee and contribute to the development of promotional materials and provide support for special events, product launches, seminars, trade shows and other market-facing activities.
Strengthen the company's brand image and market visibility through coordinated marketing, communication and partnership initiatives.
Lead, guide and develop team members where applicable, setting clear objectives and promoting accountability.
Foster a high-performance, client-focused and results-driven culture.



what you need to know

Profile:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, Sales, Finance or a related field.
A postgraduate qualification or professional certification in Sales, Commercial Management, Business Development or Management would be an advantage.
Minimum of 5-8 years' experience in commercial management, sales, business development or a similar role.
Proven track record in achieving revenue targets, developing client relationships and growing business opportunities.
