Our client in the FMCG is seeking to recruit a Sales Merchandiser who will be responsible for driving sales growth and brand visibility within modern trade outlets (hypermarkets, supermarkets, and key retail chains). This position combines strategic merchandising, sales execution, and key account support to ensure optimal product availability, visibility, and promotion compliance in line with company and trade partner objectives.
Responsibilities:
Sales Execution & Key Account Support:
Develop sales through automatic order generation and relationship management with store managers and buyers.
Ensure all company products are listed, available, and correctly merchandised in assigned outlets.
Negotiate secondary placements, promotional spaces, endcaps, and promotional agreements in line with trade plans.
Take orders from store managers and negotiate volume, pricing, and promotional support.
Monitor debtor accounts and ensure timely collection of payments in collaboration with the finance team.
Get new products listed in stores by presenting them to buyers and agreeing on placement on shelves.
Merchandising Excellence & In-Store Execution:
Execute and maintain planogram compliance, ensuring correct facing, positioning, and pricing across all SKUs.
Create and maintain impactful displays, including gondola ends, dump bins, and promotional setups.
Ensure all POS materials are present, clean, and correctly placed to drive consumer engagement.
Conduct regular stock rotation based on FIFO (First-In, First-Out) or FEFO (First Expired , First Out ) principles to minimise expired goods.
Monitor shelf stock levels, anticipate out-of-stock risks, and coordinate timely replenishment.
Send before-and-after photos of displays and placements for verification and reporting purposes.
Ensure promotional pricing and tags are correctly displayed.
Stock & Inventory Management:
Perform shelf audits and store-level stock takes.
Manage product recalls.
Identify slow-moving items swiftly and propose corrective commercial actions.
Ensure returned products and/or damages are documented.
Trade Marketing & Category Support:
Implement category management principles to optimise shelf layout and product assortment.
Gather and report daily market intelligence on competitor activities, pricing, promotions, and consumer trends.
Provide store-level feedback on product performance, shopper behaviour, and promotional effectiveness.
Support sampling or demonstration activities in-store where applicable.
Relationship & Compliance Management:
Build and maintain strong professional relationships with store managers, department heads, and retail staff.
Train retail staff on product features, promotions, and planogram standards.
Ensure excellent customer service by responding promptly to queries and resolving issues.
what you need to know
Profile:
HSC/ BAC holder. Degree holder in Sales & Marketing, or related field will be an advantage.
At least 3 to 5 years experience in sales to the Retail sector/ of FMCG products /Consumer Goods , B2B Sales.
Self starter, attention to details, disciplined.
Excellent communication (written and spoken) and negotiation skills , problem solver.
Proven track record in revenue growth, team player, and corporate account management.
Valid driving licence (manual).
Clean Certificate of Character.
