Our client, a significant player in the FMCG Distribution in Mauritius, is seeking to recruit an accomplished professional to fill the role of Senior Marketing and Business Development Manager. The incumbent will report to the General Manager and his/her role will be at the forefront of shaping the pathway to growth and brand visibility of the company.


Strategic Marketing and Reporting:
Direct the formulation, implementation, and alignment of comprehensive marketing strategies to drive company growth and enhance brand awareness.
Develop and implement a business plan to contribute to long-term sustainability and growth of the company.
Develop and implement dynamic marketing strategies, in consultation with the sales team, to enhance turnover, ensure profitability, and develop, protect, and expand market shares.
Monitor marketing performance metrics, analyse results, and adjust strategies accordingly.

Business Development and Innovation:
Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, markets, partnerships through market research, competitor analysis, and networking, both locally and internationally.
Establish, monitor, and maintain strong commercial relationships with suppliers and brand principals to secure and capitalise on business development opportunities.
Formulate and refine business transformation concepts, considering all relevant factors.
Oversee and direct initiatives for product launches, promotional events, and other innovative marketing campaigns.

Brand Management:
Manage, promote, and develop the portfolio of the various brands distributed by the company ensuring brand consistency and message alignment across all channels.
Oversee the promotion of all products of the company to build a distinct brand, ensuring all media is explored, keeping up to date with moving trends and maximizing social media and online presence.
Ensure proper and timely renewal of contracts with suppliers and Brand principals, reviewing terms and conditions when applicable to ensure reliable and cost-effective services.

Financial Management:
Analyse competitor marketing and pricing policies as well as the market environment to establish pricing, advertising budgets and marketing.
Monitor and mitigate foreign currency risks including transaction risk, translation risk and economic risk.
Prepare and analyse comprehensive financial reports and performance metrics to inform financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.

Leadership & People Management:
Lead and manage the Marketing and Business Development team, providing guidance, support, and regular performance evaluations.
Act as a trusted advisor to the General Manager/ Top Management, providing strategic insights and recommendations to support key decision-making processes.
Design and implement relevant people strategies to drive cultural change and foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability.
Promote synergy and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of marketing and business development efforts with overall business goals and objectives.

what you need to know


Minimum of a master's degree in marketing, Business, or related field.
Proven experience (at least 10 years) in marketing and business development.
Experience within the FMCG or in the distribution industry would be a key advantage.
Strong leadership and team/people management skills.
Strategic thinking with a results-oriented mindset.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Analytical ability to interpret market data and trends.
Innovative and creative thinking.
Familiarity with digital marketing strategies and tools.
Ability to work under pressure.
