Our client, a Mauritius-based company serving leading biomedical and pharmaceutical research markets in the United States and Europe, is seeking an experienced and self-driven Site Manager to lead a critical operation. This is an exciting opportunity for a high-calibre professional to take on a leadership role, drive operational excellence, and make a meaningful impact within a specialised and internationally focused environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish, manage, and continuously improve site operations in alignment with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the Animal Care and Use Programme, and the organisation's vision and values, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, quality care, and operational excellence.
Maintain AAALAC accreditation and overall compliance by implementing required programmes, ensuring adherence to regulatory, legislative, and internal standards, and sustaining audit readiness across all site activities.
Drive the effective implementation of the Quality Management System, occupational health, safety, biosafety, and continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with management, veterinary teams, and operational personnel.
Oversee and manage all site works, ensuring efficient delivery of animal care, production, research support, and compliance with SOPs, AAALAC standards, and regulatory requirements.
Lead and manage a team of around 60 staff and operatives, fostering a high-performance culture aligned with company values, including workforce planning, performance management, training, employee relations, and retention.
Prepare and manage operational budgets; manage resources, facilities, equipment, and materials to ensure effective and compliant service delivery within approved financial parameters.
Plan, execute, and monitor projects as assigned by the Operations Manager, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and performance expectations.
Coordinate closely with production, veterinary, research, and quality teams to ensure integrated operations, high standards of animal welfare, and successful research and production outcomes.
Ensure robust data management, reporting , compliance monitoring, and continuous improvement through audits, corrective actions, and performance tracking.
what you need to know
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
Degree in Agricultural Sciences / Biological Sciences / Management.
At least 5 years hands - on experience in a similar role.
